"Businesses succeed in Texas because we've built a framework that allows free enterprise to flourish - less government, lower taxes, smarter regulations, and right-to-work laws help business owners and entrepreneurs grow jobs in Texas."
- Greg Abbott

The Kilgore business climate offers a variety of incentive programs designed for business retention, expansion and relocation, but we think the biggest incentive of all is a "business friendly" attitude. Nerd Wallet recently ranked Kilgore in the top 20 places to start a business in Texas. The methodology ranked communities according to business climate and economic health.
Under the category of business climate, the ranking valued business density and profitability of existing employers. In Gregg County, 20% of the workforce is employed in the goods producing sectors, indicating a higher density of business than state and national averages. A research team from Texas A&M conducted a case study survey that indicated local employers are more profitable than top companies nationally in the same industries. Together, this data points to more and more profitable businesses.
Economic health valued unemployment rates and median incomes vs. housing costs. Kilgore scores well in those areas as well.
