KEDC Supports Workforce Development

The Kilgore Economic Development Corp. board of directors has approved a subsidy of up to $80,000 for Kilgore College to purchase equipment for a dual-credit welding course to be taught at Kilgore Independent School District.
The subsidy is to supplement an expected grant of $217,050 to Kilgore College from The Texas Workforce Commission.
“Workforce is the new incentive,” said KEDC Executive Director Amanda Nobles.  “Helping Kilgore College with equipment costs for the KISD welding course is one way we can respond to the workforce needs of our primary employers and enhance the pipeline of skilled workers.”
Also to enhance the pipeline of skilled workers, KEDC opened the Advanced Technology Center housing the Kilgore College Advanced Welding Academy in April.
