Training Incentives

A business or consortium of businesses identifies a training need, and then partners with a public community or technical college to fill its specific needs. Businesses work with college partners to submit proposals, develop curricula, and conduct training. The Skills Development Fund pays for the training and the college administers the grant.  The average incentive for training is $1800 per new employee. Businesses then create new jobs or improve the skills of their current workers.

Eligibility
  • Grant recipients are public community or technical colleges.
  • Business partners are primarily private for-profit businesses.
Administration
The Skills Development Fund is administered through the Texas Workforce Commission. For more detailed information on the program, click here.
