Bryan Johnston Joins Board

The Kilgore City Council has nominated and approved Bryan Johnston to complete the unexpired term of Kilgore Economic Development Corp. board member Mike Head , who is retiring in June.  He is in the second year of his first term on the Board. The appointment is effective July 1.
Bryan Johnston
Bryan Johnston previously served on the Kilgore Economic Development Corporation board for two terms from fiscal year ending 2014 to 2019. The last two years of his second term, he served as president of the organization.   Before being elected president, Johnston served as the assistant secretary-treasurer from 2014 to 2015 and vice president from 2016 to 2017.
Johnston, a native of Kilgore, attended Kilgore public schools and Kilgore College.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Texas A&M University in 1990. Today, Johnston serves as co-owner and Vice-President of Merritt Preferred Components where he is responsible for all aspects of the structural aerospace and energy manufacturer. Prior to joining the company in 2001, Mr. Johnston was an investment advisor for Edward Jones and a financial analyst for GE Capital in their commercial real estate group.
He is an active community volunteer, having served in the past on several boards including the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce board of directors and the Boys & Girls Club of Kilgore advisory board and the Kilgore College Foundation advisory board. In addition, he has volunteered as an election judge for Gregg County and has served on the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee for the City of Kilgore. He has supported high school support groups including the Kilgore High School football booster club, the Kilgore Hi-Stepper support group, and he served in the past as President of the Kilgore High School baseball booster club. He also served numerous youth sport associations, including advisory boards for Kilgore Boys Baseball, Kilgore Youth Soccer, and Kilgore Youth Softball.  
Johnston has been married to his wife, Tiffany, for 31 years. They have three grown children, Lexi Bennett, Colby Santora and Jack Johnston, and one grandson Knox Santora.
Mike Head
Mike Head has experience of more than 30 years in manufacturing with the Kilgore facility of Closure Systems International, which manufactures closures for food and beverages. CSI serves multiple countries with manufacturing facilities throughout the world and has been in Kilgore since 1985, expanding several times through the years. 
He has been employed with CSI since 1990 and began his career as a process engineer. From there he worked in Technical Sales before being named Engineering and Maintenance Manager. From there he was promoted to Operations Manager before being named Plant Manager in June 2018.
He has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University.
