KEDC Welcomes New Board Member

Ruben Martin

Ruben Martin retired as a board member of the organization after serving two three-year terms, with his second term as Assistant Secretary.

Ruben S. Martin III is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Martin Midstream Partners L.P., and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Martin Resource Management Corporation (MRMC).  Martin has served in various capacities within the company since graduating from college and has served as President of Martin Resource Management Corporation since 1981.  

Outside of his role as president of Martin, he serves as president of Paula Martin Jones Charities, Inc., in Longview, Texas, a charity formed to honor his sister’s dedication to the community and humanitarian efforts after her passing in 1990.  Previously, he served on the boards of directors of the Texas Association of Business, the Sabine River Authority, Good Shepherd Medical Center and Trinity School of Texas. He is also the founder of East Texans Against Lawsuit Abuse and currently serves as its President.

As a third generation University of Arkansas graduate, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial management from the School of Business (1974).  He and his wife, Sue, also a University of Arkansas graduate, (1973) have two daughters and three granddaughters and are members of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Longview.

 

Jeff Stone

Joining the board is Jeff Stone, an East Texan native with over 40 years of diverse business experience across many facets in the development, operation and management of a business.

Since 2001, Jeff has served as Senior VP/GM of Skeeter Products, Inc., a manufacturer of fiberglass fishing boats serving the U.S. market as well as markets in Canada, Japan, South Africa and Australia. In addition to the product development, engineering and manufacturing of boat segments serving the southern freshwater bass, northern deep V and saltwater bay boat markets, responsibilities also include all marketing, sales, customer relations, HR and financial reporting functions. During this time Skeeter’s national market share has grown from 8% to 20%. Skeeter Products, Inc is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yamaha Motors, USA, headquartered in Cypress, CA.

Jeff graduated with a BBA in Accounting from North Texas State University in 1980. He spent 3 years working for Green, Green, and Associates, a public accounting firm in Longview with a practice that included many clients throughout East Texas. During this time, he received his CPA certification and focused on audit services ranging from manufacturing to banking and also corporate and individual tax.

Jeff also has been a member of the Board of Directors of the NMMA (National Marine Manufacturer’s Association) since 2001. The NMMA represents the $42 billion marine industry and its 1300 member companies in the areas of government advocacy, safety and certification and marketing and promotion with a mission to protect and promote boating.

 

Bob Davis Jr.

Bob Davis was re-elected president of the Kilgore Economic Development Corp.’s board of directors. This will be Bob’s second year in his first term as a board member and second year serving as president.

Bob Davis, Jr has worked in the supply chain sector of the oil and gas industry for more than 38 years and is the co-owner of Bob Davis Sales, Inc., a wholesale distributor of products used in the drilling and production of crude oil and natural gas.  The company, founded by his father in 1978, represents 18 companies and provides sales, distribution, and technical support for the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas.  Bob attended the University of Central Oklahoma.

Davis has lived in Kilgore since 1990 and has served on and chaired many local boards and civic organizations including Kilgore United Fund, Kilgore Chamber of Commerce, Kilgore Community Crisis Center, Kilgore Oilpatch Kiwanis Club, and Kilgore College Foundation Board.   He was a co-founder of the East Texas Oilmen’s Chili Cook-off in 1992.

He is married to Holly, who works with him at Bob Davis Sales.  They have four children, and four grandchildren. He is a member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church.
