Leadership and Staff Changes

Board Leadership
KEDC is pleased to announce the appointment of new leadership and staff.  Robert R. “Bobby” Beane will be joining the board as the term for Wilbur F. Yates, KEDC vice-president, expires September 30, 2015. 
Beane will begin a three-year term beginning October 1, 2015.  He was first appointed to KEDC’s Board in October of 2005, and served two terms ending September 30, 2011, with three years as vice president and two years as president.
“I’m delighted to return to the board,” said Beane.  “Kilgore is a special place, and I am happy to do what I can to contribute to its growth and to its future.”
Beane purchased Kilgore Insurance Agency, Inc. with partner Jack Ward in 1981.  He subsequently purchased Jack Skipper Insurance Agency, Bolt Insurance Agency and Roy H. Laird Insurance Agency. 
He currently serves as president of NTX Insurance Group, Inc., which has branches across the North Texas area.  He has received leadership awards from several national insurance companies. 
His service to the Kilgore community includes membership at First Baptist Church, where he is a member of the Deacon Body and has been a Deacon Body Officer, Adult Sunday School teacher and Trustee.   Beane is an active member of the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce where he has held several leadership positions including president.  He was the Kilgore Citizen of the Year in 2007.
Wilbur F. Yates’ term of service to the KEDC board will end on September 30, 2015, after his fourth appointment. Yates has served a total of ten years, which includes being president of the organization when land for Synergy Park was purchased.   
“I’m very pleased to have been able to serve the KEDC board,” said Yates.  “KEDC has been recognized as one of the best economic development organizations in the state, and my goal has always been to help maintain its excellence and see that KEDC accomplishes its mission for the community.”
“Wilbur has been very special to KEDC, and he will be incredibly missed,”  said Amanda Nobles, KEDC Executive Director.  "His vision and strong leadership have been an asset to me, other board members, and to the community in general.” 
Yates is a financial advisor and limited partner with Edward Jones in Kilgore.   In addition to his experience with investment portfolios, he has more than 25 years in experience with the banking industry where he served as chairman of the board and president of City National Bank and Allied Citizens Bank in Kilgore, a senior executive officer of the American National Bank in Amarillo and as a national bank examiner with the U.S. Treasury.  He is a graduate of Longview High School, Kilgore College and Texas Tech University and has earned extensive graduate credits toward an MBA of Finance degree at West Texas State University.
Yates’ past community leadership includes serving as a member of the Kilgore city council for two terms and as president of both the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce and the Kilgore Industrial Foundation as well as serving on the boards of the East Texas Treatment Center, the East Texas Oilmen’s Golf Association and the East Texas Regional Airport’s Economic Development Board.  He currently is on the boards of the Roy H. Laird Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Gregg County Economic Development Board and is the president of the Gregg County Medical Economic Development Board.
Staff changes
Heather Jurenka has been promoted to business retention specialist.
Having served KEDC since 2013, she is responsible for coordinating supportive services for primary employers in Kilgore. In 2012 she received a Paralegal Certificate from Kilgore College, where she is now enrolled to complete an associate degree.  Continuing education includes the Basic Economic Development Course.
Jurenka previously served our country in the United States Air Force, where she received the National Defense Service Medal.  Prior to KEDC, she occupied the position of sales and recruiting Manager for Bridgestone/Firestone and served as an administrative assistant for Mattress Firm.  
She is currently the Education/Recruitment Chairman for Kilgore Young Professionals and is a member of Texas Economic Development Council and Business Retention Expansion International.  In addition, she serves as an advisory board member for Kilgore College's Process Technology program.
Stephanie Moore has recently joined KEDC as office manager. 
Moore brings 17 years of experience as an apartment manager to KEDC, where she is responsible for office management and staff support services as well as property management.  During the last ten years in the apartment industry, she worked with Dial Equities Inc., where her properties consistently won awards for best net operating income and best renewal program, among others.
Before her career in the apartment industry, Moore worked in the plastics industry with quality control at Southern Plastics.   She attended Kilgore College.
