KILGORE, TX - Her Majesty’s Consul General Richard Hyde will be visiting Kilgore, TX on Tuesday, September 6th as part of their “Great British Road Trip 2022” tour. Following a campus visit and tree planting ceremony at Kilgore College, Kilgore Economic Development Corporation is hosting a pop-up consulate at Synergy Center. This reception will highlight the close economic ties between Texas and the UK as local business owners and civic leaders have an opportunity to visit with the Consul General and his staff.
“We’re honored to represent northeast Texas during the Consul General’s visit to Kilgore,” said Lisa Denton, Executive Director of Kilgore Economic Development Corporation. “Kilgore has long been home to a number of international companies, and we’re looking forward to strengthening our relationship with the British Consulate in Houston.”
International companies with operations in Kilgore include:
· Camfil, a Sweden-based air filtration manufacturer
· Freedom Communication Technologies of Astronics Test Systems
· WAGNERTUNING US, a Germany-based automotive parts manufacturer
· Skeeter Products of Yahama Marine
· Communications and Power Industries, formally General Dynamics SATCOM
· Closure Systems International
· Komatsu
· CHEP, a subsidiary of the Australia-based Brambles Limited
Consul General Hyde and senior staff from the British Consulate will travel to north and east Texas, with bonus side trips into Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and New Mexico. The route will cover approximately 2,500 miles – nearly 3 times the length of the United Kingdom. This trip follows last year’s 2,500 mile road trip to central and west Texas, with a return drive along the length of the Texas-Mexico border
“The aim of this tour is to focus on cities outside the ‘Texas Triangle’ (Houston, Dallas, Austin/San Antonio),” said Consul General Hyde. “This will enable us to engage with a wide range of politically influential and economically important communities and groups. Whilst honouring Her Majesty’s 75th year on the throne and enhancing the environment with tree plantings, we also hope to demonstrate that the UK is a modern and dynamic partner of Texas, a leading centre of culture, music and sport and a world class centre of innovation and science.”
Other stops on the “Great British Road Trip 2022” include Nacogdoches, Shreveport, Texarkana, Amarillo, Lubbock and Waco.
